Should you have multiple YouTube channels? This is a question I heard a lot.
A lot of creators who are on YouTube know how challenging it is to run a single YouTube channel.
They know how hard it is to find a video idea, write a script, make a voice-over, edit the video and then create an eye-catching thumbnail.
That is a lot of the time you have to invest in a single video.
So, why should you want to have multiple channels?
What is the point of doing that?
In this article, I want to share with you my opinion on this question.
Why Should You Have Multiple YouTube Channels
Don’t get me wrong I love working on multiple channels but there are certain things you need to consider before making that decision.
Firstly, you are only able to do one thing at a time. If you want to talk about nutrition in some way and share a tutorial on it, you’re only able to talk about it on a channel dedicated to nutrition and health.
This can work in your favor if your channel is focused on one thing in particular but in general, you are only going to get as much traffic or interaction as the majority of your videos can support.
If you have a channel dedicated to a particular topic, you are probably limited by the topics you cover, which means that you have to pick which ones are the most important.
With one channel, you are focusing on one niche, and building an audience around this category. You can become an expert, an authority, a personality.
However, most successful YouTube channels are still creating other channels.
Why?
The Benefits of Having Multiple YouTube Channels
The main benefit to having multiple channels is the fact that you have a chance to expand your fan base by connecting with potential new fans.
With multiple channels, you can record different types of content, you can experiment more around various topics, and mostly you can diversify your income.
Because when something happens to one of your channels, you have another that can generate you money.
The Challenges of Having Multiple YouTube Channels
The main challenge with having multiple YouTube channels is time.
Creating a single video takes a lot of time and in most cases, you need to post videos on your channel at least twice a week.
With multiple channels, you need to create more videos.
However, many of your videos will get a higher number of views than you expect.
As long as you have enough content to keep your channel ticking over, there’s no reason not to create multiple channels.
That’s why I have multiple YouTube channels. And because most of them are faceless channels, I can easily outsource the video creation process.
This method is called YouTube automation and is a clever way to have multiple channels and still have time for yourself.
So, should you run multiple YouTube channels or should you limit yourself to one?
I understand, in some cases, a single channel is great. You can easily build a brand around your personality or around your business.
But in some cases, having a number of different channels can really allow you to stretch yourself creatively.
What’s more, you can run channels in various niches and you are building multiple income streams, so you don’t need to worry, that one channel will be deleted and you will lose your living.
