However, after experimenting with different AI tools and creating my own portfolio of illustrations, I realized this technology is here to stay.

So I started thinking – how could I actually make money from all the cool AI art I was creating?
That’s when I came across Freepik, a huge online marketplace where creators sell royalty-free graphics. It’s an interesting platform where your work can reach millions of potential buyers.
And it is a non-exclusive platform. This means you can upload the same image to other platforms.
That’s what I’m doing. I’m uploading the same AI image to Freepik, Adobe Stock, and 123RF.
Let me walk you through how easy Freepik makes it to earn passive income from your AI art:
First, sign up for a free Freepik account and request to become a Contributor. You’ll then need to submit 10 test images to show you understand their expectations for quality and metadata.
Once approved, start uploading your AI portfolio!
However, the approval process for AI images can take up to 20 working days, which is typical. These images require more time to get approved.
Building and uploading your portfolio may take some time, but once you do it, it can become a nice source of side income.
Here’s the best part – you earn money each time someone downloads your images. The more content you add, the bigger your potential payouts over time.
As I have already mentioned, I love that Freepik is completely non-exclusive too.
I still sell prints of my work on Etsy and use AI art on client projects. Freepik earnings are just extra passive income.
In my two months as a Contributor, I’ve already had 68 AI images accepted and earned 0.47 euros with minimal effort.
It may not be much, but I already have 5000 images ready to upload. If I still get 0.05 euros per download, I’m talking about earning 250 euros per month from the images I have already uploaded elsewhere.
Once the portfolio is uploaded, it will continue generating income for years to come.
